i trust no one

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Well, I'm alive, in case anyone was wondering. I can't sleep, so, ya know.

I'm in the second week of classes, flooded with psych reading. I finished knitting my first scarf today, yay! I miss my Mary and oddly enough, I miss being in Salt Lake with her. Vagina Monologues is in full gear now (yes, I am in the Vagina Monologues). I got into contact with a distant cousin in Italy, so now I am practicing my Italian. I am being published in an international poetry book...don't even ask, I barely remember writing or submitting the poem. I think they are just retarded and picked terrible poems...honestly. I am now officially a research assistant in a psyc lab, so thats cool. Last Friday I went to the [however many annual] Roe v. Wade lucheon at the Galleria. I was invited by my professor and I think I was the youngest person in the room. It was fun though, oddly enough, and there was an amazing speaker, so all in all, a good time. Other than that, I am working, volunteering, partying, and hopped up coffee. Its a good life.

so, i watched an inconvenient truth, and of course, i liked it cuz i'm a "goddamn hippie". but there was one thing i thought was particularly stupid for al gore to do. he wants this issue to be heard, as he so clearly states is his reason for making this movie. he also agrees that global warming isn't about political parties or being conservative or liberal. but then, he puts images of the 2000 election, and other images of famous republicans making essentially "anti-enviromental" speeches. if al gore even wants the other side to hear what he is saying and be concerned, even if its just the constituents and not the actual politicians...then he can't insult them and piss them off. basically, its stupid, cuz global warming is a huge and terrifying issue that does have to be dealt with, and it isnt about social conservatism or not. rising water doesn't care how rich you are. but he can't alienate the conservatives. thats the stupidest thing you could do and he's just being hypocritical. "i'm gonna make this movie to get the word out, but then i am gonna go ahead and piss off the side i am trying to convince." liberals already worry about it buddy, so do alot of conservatives. basically, what i am trying to say is, politicians can bite me cuz they have zero tact.
